[Note: for all our friends in Australia, this event will take place at 6PM your time – utc+10]
What is this event?
A fun Basketball Ball handling session you can do from your living room or kitchen or backyard. You will need to: Move the furniture, grab 2 basketballs, 3 obstacles (cone, water, bottle, shoes anything will do), bring a can-do attitude! This is intended to be a join-in session. Jess will demo some of her favourite ball handling/ball familiarisation drills and the kids can join in and give them a go. We will have a couple of timed challenges for everyone to try and practice, they can send their best videos through to us and we will share them on our bballermelbourne on Instagram. Also happy to do some Q&A for all the young ballers out there!
About the Coach, Jess (in her own words)
My name is Jessica Scannell. I’m a basketball player from Cork, Ireland. I’m now living, playing and coaching in Melbourne Australia. Currently playing for Wyndham Basketball Association. Coaching with the Basketball Victoria State Development Program and running my own skill development business Bballer Melbourne. I’ve previously played for Glanmire Basketball Club, The Irish National Team, Iona College, Pace University, Nottingham Wildcats, Melbourne Tigers, Keilor Thunder, Whittlesea Pacers and Sunbury Jets. Missing all the wonderful people I’ve met at all those basketball hubs and looking for a way to connect during these crazy times.
What You Need:
Laptop/smartphone, a cleared space and (ideally) 2 basketballs, 3 obstacles (cone, water, bottle, shoes… anything small will do).
